Word does not allow modification of a new document, why?

Word, and all the other "Microsoft Office" programs, does not allow me to
type or modify any document, even new ones. I have not put any protection on
any documents. How do I fix this?

Hi Phillip,

In Word's Help menu check the Activate choice to
see if perhaps a trial version has expired and changed
the Office apps to 'reduced functionallity' (viewer only)
mode.
