word error msg.: insufficient memory

I have Windows XP, Msft Word XP 2002.

When attempting to save a document, I receive following error msg.:
"Word had insufficient memory. Do I want to save the document
as 'Received Document'?".

My computer has over 500 mb internal memory available according to
ms3winfo.exe.

When it says that "Word has insufficient memory", is it referring to a
separate memory resource for Word? If it is, how do I determine the
size of this resource and adjust it so the error message does not
appear?

All replies welcomed!

In earlier versions of Word that error message was a generic indication that
the Save operation had failed, for any reason at all. I'd have expected MS
to have fixed the problem by now, but apparently not. Anyway, the problem is
unlikely to be anything at all to do with memory. More likely, the document
is simply corrupt. If you received the document via email, ask the sender to
put it in a zip file and email you that.
