Word Instances

Usually when I start word, its starts an instance of the program. If I start
it again, it starts another instance. All of a sudden, it's only starting a
document instead. Interestingly enough, If I start word with /a switch, then
all is back to normal (no pun on normal.dot intended). Anybody have any idea
what is going on and how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Are you referring to seeing multiple tasks on the Windows task bar for
Word or are you referring to multiple instances of "Winword.exe"
appearing in the Task Manager?

As it turns out, it had to do with the single document interface versus the
multiple document interface. Thanks,
