Word is loading slowly

Hello,
Using WinXP pro and office 2003 on an notebook. There is also Norton
Antivir installed. When the user is starting word and Norton Antivir is
activated there is a very long delay time until word is loaded
completely and activated for working with it.
Without Antivir activity the loading procedure is going faster.
Can somebody give any advise to solve this problem ?

Disable the Norton Office plug in.
