Word keeps trying to use outlook express instead of outlook

Word keeps trying to use outlook express instead of outlook, I have tried everything I can think of even tried uninstalling outlook express.

the SWEN virus, all mail sent to my personal account will be deleted
without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, gdavidjr asked:

If you have windows xp go to add/remove "windows
components" and de-select outlook express. 2nd open your
outlook and go to "tools" >> "options" >> "other" and
check [X] outlook default email program.

Outlook requires Outlook Express to be installed to run correctly. Removing
the program will have odd side effects.
