Word - no "help" icon, no tool bars, or icons of any kind anywhere

Came to open a Word document this evening, and for some
reason, when Word opened, there were no menus/icons/tools/
along the top, no help icon (so couldn't re-install Word
because I couldn't get access to product ID.)
Something about data1.msi being unavailable/corrupted (and
can I find advice on this? or even what it is, no chance!)
Microsoft support web site/pages useless.
it is 22:40 GMT UK.
All my other word documents have the same problem -
opening them is okay but can't do anything but save and
reopen...no editing, no changes using tool
bars/menus/icons, nothing is possible.
Please, please, can someone out there help me?
