Word Opens Slowly

My version (and only my version) of Word opens very slowly, that is, it
takes a long time to load. Our company has a global template that loads
automatically, and I recall a message posted here a while ago about
something in the VBA code of the template that causes Word to load slowly.
Can someone elaborate on that?

Why would only my machine be affected by whatever this is? I have a lab
machine right next to me that uses the same global template, and Word loads
very quickly and easily. All the toolbars work, all the buttons respond
quickly. My main machine has a faster processor and more RAM than the lab
machine. Further, no one else in the organization who uses these global
templates has this issue.

It's not a show-stopper, but I'm very curious about this behavior, and I
will appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks,
Beck

Close down Word and then find your Normal.dot and then rename it. See if
that makes a difference.

Now, there could be other issues. For example if the start-up template is
shared on a LAN somewhere (yuck!) then this could be a problem. Or it
could be running some code and looking for some drive or other which
doesn't exist and it's off hunting for it.

Just a couple of thoughts to get you going.
