Since re-installed my word 97 on ME, it will no longer accept JPEG inserts. CAn anyone suggest how to make it recognise them again.

Did you explicitly install the converter for JPG graphics format? If not, or if
you're unsure, then you need to run a "Add Remove programs" type of setup through
the Control Panel. Drill down through the component listings until you find the
graphics converters. Activate the checkbox for the jpg file format, then OK until
Setup installs / removes the specified components.
