Word suddenly is sluggish and slow

Have a 4 month old Gateway 2.4Ghz desktop running Word
XP. After working normally all day yesterday, it suddenly
runs sluggish now. Takes over a full minute to pull in a
document. Rebooted several times, no change. Reloaded
Word, no change. No other programs seem to be affected.
Coincidentally began having problems shortly after Norton
Antivirus updated on Live Update. Anyone else have same
problem? Need help bad and fast. Do Medical
Transcription and time is $$$.

If you have Norton Anti-virus (NAV), a recent update seems to have
caused this. No more details know. Go to NAT Options...Miscellaneous
and disable the "Enable Office Plug-in". This stops NAV checking the
office files. Contact Norton for resolution.

Same problem. disconnect from network, and then Word turns to be fast.
