Word XP: stop Clipboard task pane?

E

Ed

I'm not sure if this is the correct NG, so if I'm in the wrong place, please
drop-kick me over to the right one. I keep getting the Clipboard task pane
showing up on the right side of my Word XP screen. This is not the little
floating Clipboard Paste Options toolbar, but a full side bar task pane.
The small Options box at the bottom is supposed to let you never see it
again - or so I thought! - but apparently I am mistaken, either about how to
set it or that it is even possible!

If someone could tell me how to kill this "feature" once and for all, I
would appreciate it.

Hi Ed,

Well, this is a group for programming (VBA) questions, so a better place would
be something like word.docmanagement...

I may be able to help, though. At the bottom of this task pane you'll find an
Options button. That should let you specify how/when the task pane should
display. In my experience, it doesn't keep it repressed completely. But the
"in your face" is reduced to something like once in a full moon.

Thanks, Cindy. I've tried setting the options on the bottom to "Collect
without showing" and unchecking "Show Automatically", just the Help file
suggests, but Word keeps "forgetting" I've said that (kind of like my
teenager!). I thought maybe someone might have a VBA solution (like one I
saw for suppressing the Web toolbar) - "If this ever shows up, turn it off".

Too bad Microsoft doesn't provide Options for different levels of users -
those who like everything automatic, those who don't, and those who like to
set their own environment, if you please! 8>)

Thanks again for the reply.
