Work column frozen

B

Brian

Hi all,
I've created a project and entered the tasks, estimated work hours, and
resources for those tasks. As the project got underway I started
entering the actual hours to track how much we're actually accruing
against each task. If the actual work went over the estimated, MS
Project would automatically increase the estimated hours to keep in
line with the actual.

Today, out of the blue, MS Project is acting different. As I enter my
actual hours for a task, if it goes above the estimated hours an error
appears: "The actual work is invalid. Enter an actual work value that
is less than the total work on the summary task." My estimated hours
("Work" column) is also frozen, so I can't increase the estimated hours
manually.

What the heck is going on here? Is there some sort of lock on the Work
column? How can this happen out of the blue?

Thanks for your help,
Brian
