Workspace Size on the database

how much disk space is taken up by a default -- and empty -- project
workspace? (PS2007)

My team is creating lots and lots (hundreds) of them for future use, but
it's possible that we'll only put a few mb of documents in any of them. Is it
possible that we're unwisely creating 50-mb-workspaces (for example) to hold
no more than 5 mb?

Or, is the amount of disk space used by an empty workspace rather small and
not worrying about? Lastly - is there any difference in size if I go with a
document-only workspace template and not a Project workspace?

How about transaction logs? Would the creation and use of lots of workspaces
make the logs grow rapidly and require constant shrinking?

Hi Brian,

it very much depends what you have done with your workspace. Have you
amended the workspace template and if so do you have content witihn the
template?

generally speaking you dont have to worry about the size of the workspace (
assuming you have not heavily customised the workpsace). The content of the
workpsace ( e.g. Documents, List items etc) are bigger than the actual
template.

Hope this helps

thanks Marc. That helps. My customizations are realtively minor. I have one
workspace that's considerably thinner than the original, and one that's a few
kb bigger. Sounds like my bigger worry is to ensure my users don't place 10mb
files on there for no reason.

:) yeap, that is probaly the bigger challange and requires some user
education which is always difficult.
