Wrong Language

I just received my Home User Program version of Office Enterprise 2007 and
put the DVD in the PC and it starts to install and a dialog box pops up that
says "The language of this installation package is not supported by your
system."

I have XP sp2. Any thoughts on what I can do? Microsoft seems to want $50
for support for a package that cost me $20.

As JoAnn said your Home User Program is related to the Office licensing
of your employer. You merely paid "shipping and handling" costs to
receive the media. You will need to contact your employers licensing
people to sort this one out.

A little more Info: I took the DVD to work and popped it in my DVD burner on
the PC in my office and it came up and asked for my Product Key as it should
have at home. I wrote an eMail to the HUP people at Microsoft and got this
reply:

"This is in response to your email regarding assistance with your software.
Setup and installation support is included. There are several options for
support for Office. The telephone number is 1-800-936-5700 or you can visit
http://support.microsoft.com."

I came home and tried the web site and it asks me for a Credit Card number
and permission to charge me $49. Where is the "Setup and installation
support is included" if they want me to pay $49?

I remembered that I have a utility loaded at home that makes my DVD drive
region free and disables autorun so I disabled it and rebooted to see if that
would make any difference but it did not. I get the same message that the
language is wrong.

I looked at my settings and I have USA English chosen.

NE other ideas?

Did you ask your IT people to assist you? The "support" would be through
your company. If you bypass your company and ask Microsoft for
assistance as an "Office user" then you would get charged the support fee.

I'm having the same problem and don't agree that Microsoft should not have to
help with this problem. Obviously there is a problem with the installation
setup file.

Nobody said Microsoft should not have to help with this problem.
You were told the proper channel is going through the company IT department
because it is volume licensing.

Thanks for all the replies. To answer someone's query, I have not contacted
my company's IT department yet but will do so. The Microsoft reply was to
call the 1-800 number and see what they could do. Here is what they sent:
"Please contact the number directly for our Product Support Department and
speak with a representative to determine what support options you have with
this new software."

Microsoft support solved my problem for free. I called the 1-800 number and
talked to a support person and gave my Product Key. She verfied my number
and transferred me to a support guy that was nice and polite and he took
control of my PC from India. He removed Office XP from my PC and tried to
install Office Enterprise 2007 from the DVD drive but got the same error
message that the language was wrong. He then copied the contents of the
Install DVD to my desktop and tried to install from there and it started up.
I entered my Product Key and it took a while to install but it now works. He
opened Outlook, Word, and Excel and made sure they worked.

You might try this procedure to see if it works for you.

Thanks for the help. I followed your advice and copied the DVD to my hard
drive and ran it fine from there.

Glad I could share my success. I always try to post the solution when I find
one so others reading the threads can see what worked and what did not.

Glad to be of help. It took me an hour on the phone with a Microsoft support
guy in India (he was very nice and ultimetely solved the problem) and I'm
glad others can benefit from my support call.

I'm not sure why the DVD drive install is the problem. I suspect that it is
because I have loaded a region free driver and have updated my primary DVD
drive firmware, but I tried my second DVD drive with stock firmware and
disabled the driver and had the same problem.
