XML exporting/importing limitations

Are there any limitations to your schema when you export/import to XML. I'm
wondering if there are any major "gotchas" when doing this. Also, any tips
for synchronizing data would be appreciated. Right now I'm letting access
reject entries by primary key duplication -- only importing unique primary
keys.
