Cannot Send Error -17092

Email Client: pop

Hello,

I've found other posts with the same problem but non of the solutions worked for me.

I am using Entourage 2008 and have been for one year. I have a pop account which (for eg) is (e-mail address removed). I have had this account for over a year. This account is operated through @mail.

I use my laptop at work and home to access my business emails. When I am at home, I change my STMP server to mail.aapt.net.au (I have Aapt at home) and at work the setting is mail.tpg.com.au.

There are over 20 people in this office using the same airport and settings. My direct supervisor and I both have mac laptops (hers is one year old, mine is 2004) and in the last few weeks are having trouble sending emails.

I have tried setting up different accounts for home and office (so I stop changing the settings each day), deleting both accounts and making one new one with just the new setting, changing the SMTP to my Pop account info, ticking and unticking authorization and port options under advanced sending options. Nothing works. However after a time it may start sending again for no apparent reason once everything is unclicked and SMTP is set to mail.tpg.com.au.

Please help me. Perhaps it is a software issue or a trojan as some people have suggested to me.

Full error message when I attempt to send:

Cannot send mail. The SMTP server does not recognize any of the authentication methods supported by Entourage. Try changing the SMTP authentication options in Account settings or contact your network administrator.

Error -17092

I have tried setting up different accounts for home and office (so I
stop changing the settings each day), deleting both accounts and
making one new one with just the new setting, changing the SMTP to my
Pop account info, ticking and unticking authorization and port
options under advanced sending options. Nothing works. However after
a time it may start sending again for no apparent reason once
everything is unclicked and SMTP is set to mail.tpg.com.au.

When settings work sometimes but not all the time then the problem is
with the server or your network.

Rather than constantly changing your SMTP address between locations, you
should ask your administrator for settings that will work when "outside
the network". This will usually require that you use a name and password
to send and possibly enable SSL. Only your server's administrator can
tell you this.

Hope this helps!
