Logon Failure

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Power PC
Email Client: Exchange

I have started to get the following error from exchange ever since "upgrading" from 12.0 to 12.1.1

"The server for account"000000" returned the error "logon failure: unknown user name or bad password". Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password?"

Re-entering the password only results in the same error message popping up again. My second computer which is intel based was upgraded to 12.1.1 and now has the same issue.

THe only way I have found to send and receive is to continually shut the program down and restart.

Re-entering the password only results in the same error message popping
up again. My second computer which is intel based was upgraded to 12.1.1
and now has the same issue.

Open /Application/Utilities/Keychain Access
In the application, launch the Keychain first Aid command to repair your
keychain.

If it doesn't work, look for your Exchange entry and delete it.
Entourage will re-create a fresh new one next time it attempts to
connect.

This references a Microsoft KB article that describes the symptoms
you're reporting.

If you're connecting to a front-end server (OWA address) while on your
company network then I suggest changing to a back-end server (direct
connection to the server hosting your account). Optionally, you can ask
your administrator to make the changes described in the full article itself.

Hope this helps!

corentin, thanks for the post, but this did not solve the problem. I tried both suggestions however as soon as entourage was restarted the problem reappeared.
any other ideas?

William Smith,
the article you linked to dealt with entourage 2004. This is a problem caused by the upgrade from entourage 12.0 to 12.1.
