We purchased media for MS Project 2002 standard edition .

We enter the volume license key at the time of installation. When we start MS
Project the first time it again prompts for the product key.It does not
accept our volume license key but accepts the key at the back of the
media. However after this it keeps prompting for activation.

How do we get it to accept our Volume license key permanently ?

You need to contact MS, the MS rep that manages your volume license account.
You didn't say where you got the media but it sounds like a regular retail
version. You will need to activate it or it will drop back to read only mode
eventually, I think you get 50 program starts but I'm not exactly sure the
number. Once activated it ties that CD key to the specific PC it is
installed on and cannot be activated on any other box without going through
MS and deactivating it for the first one. MS says that you HAVE to buy a
separate copy for EACH computer it's on, that is the license after all, and
this enforces it. Your volume license is another matter, you get X licenses
with that, but you have to go through the correct procedures, including
using the volume licensing key when installing in order for the copies to
get activated properly. Since yours didn't work, you'll need to contact MS
to get it all sorted out.

Thank you for replying .For this version would the Volume License Media be
available .I did contact Microsoft they also felt it may be a retail media
,however the rep does not think so.

I recently read on Microsoft site that future versions of Volume License
media will not have any CD key at the back. This one has it.

Well, it's up to Microsoft to get it sorted out to get the correct media to
you - as far as I know, that's the only thing you can do. They were pretty
careful to make the registration/licensing process bullet proof and so
there's no other options that I'm aware of. Doesn't the account rep know
what they've had shipped to you?
