Project cannot open file

Hello all.

I've got a Project 2000 mpp file that was open during a hard shutdown
of the desktop.

I cannot open the file now, getting the dreaded "Cannot recognize this
format". Try to open as text only with no luck.

Any thoughts on how to repair or access this data? I'm not a VBA
stud, but can recruit techheads as necessary.

Paulwolters,
It sounds like the file got corrupted during the crash. That means the
underlying database is corrupt and recruiting "techheads" to do develop
some VBA will not help. Your best bet is to open the most recent
version of your file and re-build it.

I have the same problem with a MS2007 file. The error message is "File
format is not valid". Any way to repair the file or recover the data?

Barry,
First try going to Tools/Options/Security and make sure Project 2007 is
set to allow loading files with legacy or non default format. If that
doesn't help and you have other versions of Project available, try an
earlier version. If no version of Project will open the file, you're
probably outta luck. In that case, you best bet is to revert back to the
last saved version - you do regularly back up your files, right?
