RBS Outline Codes and how to mask them for Re-Use

I get a lot of use out of our RBS codes. In fact, they are a great way
of centralizing the organizational structure and we keep finding
additional ways to use the info to reduce redundancy.

However, when we attempt to use the RBS for additional fields, such as
"Developing Department", etc., all of the RBS levels show up in the
drop down list. An example is:
"MyCompany.DCS.Database.LogicalModeling". In this scenario, "Database"
would be level of the RBS that we would be asking our project leaders
to select for each project.

Since outline codes are "linked" to the shared RBS enterprise outline
code, there is no way to monkey with the mask in the "Define Code Mask"
dialog box for an Enterprise Code. I've also tried several ways to
create a formula in a custom field that points to an RBS code -
however, no luck.

Can anyone provide a methodology on presenting portions (single levels)
of an RBS structure to Project Server users for selection into other
fields? Perhaps a formula for selecting a single level of the RBS node
- i.e.- ???[Enterprise Project Outline Code30] level=1 ????

Thanks a million!
Jim
