2002 Runtime Vs 2000 Retail Suite

Chris

Hi,
I am developing a .adp project against SQL server 2000
in Access. All of the users of the application will have
Office 2000 installed on their computers (I am unable to
get clear information from the IT manager if these will
stay as Office 2000 or if they could be upgraded to Office
XP during my project lifetime). The application will need
to interface with other Office programs word/excel/Outlook
2000 etc by automation.

From what i have read it appears that a lot of people are
saying 2002 is a better platform to use for .adp
(especially against SQL2000). I have just found out that
we have a licence for the Office XP Developer and I
believe this gives me rights to distribute the Access 2002
runtime with my application.

I have used some design-time tecniques in the code I have
written so-far on the assumption that users would have the
retail version of Access installed. These would need to be
recoded if I were to use the runtime, but I wonder if it
is better to bite-the-bullet now and switch to the 2002
runtime, rather than having the problems hit me later in
the project.

Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Chris
