2002 Spell Check broken?

J

Judy

I have a 10 page newsletter, and spelling errors are
highlighted in red. While looking over the document I
right clicked on a person's name and clicked "Ignore all"

Now I have NO red spelling errors in the document. At
Tools/Spelling my only option was Hide Spelling Errors. I
clicked it, and Show spelling errors appeared, so I
clicked it. No matter what I do I have NO spelling errors
in my document. I know there are spelling errors. I only
meant to ignore the person's name, not the entire
document. How do I get back my spell checker?

Judy you do not mention if you have prayed yet to get your spaling chacker
back. Always an advisable port of call.

Do you know if you have installed the Publisher 2002 Updates.
The issue you describe from memory was an early Publisher issue that was
fixed in the patches. You can find them at the Office website.

Always post the version of Windows you are using when posting.

Hi,
I went to the Office Website, and the only Publisher
updates I could find that might apply to me were for new
Help Files, and for Euro language files. Which leads me
to another question... I use Windows XP, and Publisher
2002. Does this mean I automatically HAVE Microsoft
Office? Every time I try to find out something about
Publisher, I have to go through the Microsoft Office
website. My Publisher software box says, "The Microsoft
Office Desktop Publishing Solution." Did I get MS Office
when I installed Publisher? Are they one and the same? I
thought I bought a stand-alone product, but every
reference to Publisher is through Office -- which is why
it took me forever to find it at this website.
Lost in cyberspace,
Judy
PS: My spell checker miraculously came back. Don't know
what I did. Maybe, knowing what an idiot I am, you prayed
for me? If so, thanks! :>)

Microsoft Publisher 2002 is a component of Microsoft Office XP.
The Office XP Service Packs do a clever little thing - the find out exactly
what components you have from Office XP, and only download and install the
updates for those applications.
So you need to find Office XP SP1, and download the installer for that. It
will update Publisher to SP1. Then do the same for SP2.
