2003 activation question

Tom O'Connell

Hi-

I presently have Publisher SR1 on two machines (desktop with wife's name as
registered owner and laptop with my own) that very ocassionally get used at
the same time.

If I upgrade to 2003, will I need 2 licenses? for this situation?

thanks,

Tom O'Connell

Here's an excerpt from the Pub2003 EULA:

===
1.1 Installation and use. You may:
(a) install and use a copy of the Software on
one personal computer or other device; and
(b) install an additional copy of the Software
on a second, portable device for the exclusive
use of the primary user of the first copy of the
Software.
===

I'm thinking you will have to call MS to activate
the second install.

Thanks, guys. I guess I should at least download the trial and then call MS
activation if we want to go with it.

cheers,

There's no trial download that I'm aware of. However,
you can order a free Pub 2003 Trial CD Kit if you pay
the S&H.

Or...you could purchase the retail version and return
it within 30 days to Microsoft if you are unhappy with it.

Yes, you will. Publisher is part of the Office family of products
and, as such, is governed by the Office EULA. This states that an
Office famliy application may be installed on one desktop and one
laptop, provided that: -

That's the technical "I'm a lawyer" answer.

Of course, I can't say that Microsoft would turn a blind ear to this kind of
situation... but it's better than you downloading a pirate copy or going
round mass-producing pirate editions of Publisher...
