2007: Start all docs in Draft?

Is there some option that I can set so that Word always starts a document
(old or new) in Draft view?

I cannot find such an option. So I am constantly going into the View menu
and choosing Draft for every document that I open to work on.

Right click on the Status Bar (at the bottom of the screen) and check the
"View Shortcuts" item. Then you will just need one click to change the
view.

It should hold the last used view, but you can force any view with a pair of
autorunning macros saved in the normal template eg

Sub AutoNew()
ActiveWindow.View.Type = wdNormalView
End Sub

Sub AutoOpen()
ActiveWindow.View.Type = wdNormalView
End Sub

Note that you may have to enable the "Allow opening a document in Draft
view" option in Word Options, Advanced category (under the "General"
heading) for this to work properly.

This is the answer that I was looking for -- no macros needed. The saves were
not holding the last view.

I had looked in the Word Options, Advanced list but had looked in the
"Display" options and had not looked at the "General" options.

Thank you, Stefan.
