2007 trying to do live data update ....

When using v2003 I used to be able to update a slides data by using the
old Excel OLE trick. You all know the one of dragging a single Excel
cell on to the PPT slide then it will ask for an option and of course
you "paste special" then right click and update link. Then, from now on
(obviously in dual view) you have the slide on secondary output and the
PPT and Excel on primary. Whenever you make a change in the cell the PPT
slide on the secondary would change also (great for doing auctions by
the way).

Here's the rub:

I have just tried to do the same thing in v2007, and guess what, it
doesn't work (well I say doesn't work, it may do for a couple of
changes, then stops). Firstly when you drag a cell from Excel to PPT you
don't get an option to paste special it just pastes a picture, so you
have to copy the cell then paste special from the ribbon, it may be just
me but I had to do this twice before it worked!! Then if you manage to
get that far click on update link. So far so good, but when you change
the cells value, the first time it will work but then who knows.

I used to do this a lot on live shows (that's why I just tested it) I
have a job next week where I need this scenario, so guess what, I'll
have to change back to v2003 for the show.

Has anyone else had this problem with v2007 or am I the only one using
this feature? It was quite cool being able to update a slide live and
change the size/colour all from Excel then click on the show and
continue.
