A button command to dial Skype?

I have a friend who uses Skype for his phone calls. On his contacts form
I'd like to put a button next to the phone number that would dial out on
Skype. Am I dreaming?

The short answer is that I don't think you can. For what I understand, Skype
interfaces with your browser and you would need to have it interface with
Access instead.

There is a third party app that is supposed to make Access interface with
Skype, but I have never used it, though it suggests that it can be done.

Another possible option is a FireFox plug-in that makes phone numbers on
webpages clickable for Skype. Then you just export your current phone list
as a text file and open it in the browser and click away.

I would love to hear other input on this one.

Actually, Skye does have a "com" automaton object exposed.

That means just like ms-access can launch outlook, or excel, you can also
control and dial stuff with the Skype object.

You can see some scripting examples here, and the VBS ones are very close to
ms-access syntax, and should work...

Actually, Skype is just regular software that you install on your computer,
like Word, or Excel.

See my other post, and skype does expose a com "object" just like Word, or
Excel does, and it can thus be controlled from ms-access....

Those plug ins you speak of use the Skype "com" api, and do so no different
then we use the word "api" when we launch a copy of word and "automate"
it....
