a chart for comparing numbers from "then and now"

I am preparing a chart comparing numbers from the early 1900's to now. Is
there a template that I can use?

Dunno what kind of template you might like but depending on how you
plan to compare data from 1900s to now, a few options come to mind.

The most obvious is a line chart. The data should show a trend if any.

If you have a basis for comparison other than the year, consider a
cluster column chart, a 100% stacked column chart, or, once again, a
line chart.

To a large extent the kind of chart you use depends on the kind of data
you are comparing, the basis for the comparison, and what you believe
will make it easy for your audience to understand the message you want
to convey.
