A funny quirk

I'm operating under Windows XP and I have recently upgraded from Office 2000
to Office 2002. In Publisher I'm experiencing a strange quirk. When I copy
text from another application (like Word) that has breaks of two lines, when
I paste it into Publisher, the two lines will be followed by a single space
before the paragraph. Is there a fix for this or is it something I'll just
have to live with? (Why Microsoft thinks they have to fix something that
works fine is beyond me - although the almighty buck must be the underlying
reason.)

Select all the text, on the toolbar, format, paragraph, set the before and after
paragraph spacing to zero.

Thanks for your reply.

I do that. I'm transfering text from overhead masters and converting it to a
handout. I'm changing the font from 24 point bold to 10 normal; from
paragraph spacing of exactly 24 point to single spaced. The paragraphs are
all marked as no space before or after the paragraph.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks Bob.

I tried it and am getting the same results. There's still a single space
before the paragraph after the double return.
