2) Which other softwares the word to link?

Search in Word's HElp for "template" and see the article "about
templates".

Their file extension is *.dot.

See the Word MVP's web page, search for "template" on
http://word.mvps.org/Search/index.htm

Also browse books on Word in a local book store.
