I have some issues running Access 2000 ( as part of Office 2000 service pack
3) on Windows xp
I have it installed on a win 2000 machine
on xp
1. After openeing an Access application and entering design mode
a. the usual Access icon shows in the task bar
BUT if I open a table or query the icon on the
task bar changes to a general windows applicon icon
and a new icon shows for the table/qury
close the table/query
the new icon goes but the Access icon remains
general win app - NOT the Access icon
2.
a. On the win 2000 machine a second access application opens
almost instantly
On the xp machine the second access app starts
VERY SLOWLY
b. I have a asp application using an access 2000 app
on the win 2000 machine I can keep the access app
open whilst running the asp app and update the database
BUT on the xp machine
the asp app complains that the access app is locked
when it is open (in SHARED mode)
c. Even when the Access app is closed if my asp app
attempts to update the data it complains that the access
app is READ ONLY!
NOTE before running sp3 on the office installation I renamed acwx*.mde to
acwx*.old
