Access 2002 and Windows XP -- Known Problems?

Are there any known problems with the combination of Access
2002 (XP) and Windows XP?

The box at work was fine when it was running Access 2002 and
Windows 2000, but the IT folks imaged the HDD with Windows
XP (and Office XP), and since then (~ 2 weeks ago) there are
problems:

Windows seems more lethargic in general, espeically Access;
after 2-3 hours of work, after bootup, a piece of screen
real-estate, about 1" square, in the upper left corner of
the screen, turns gray and stays on top of most everything
else. In another hour or so, desktop icons, quick-launch
icons, and even menus start going blank. Then, new windows
start coming up blank. And during all this time, Windows
gets slower, and slower, and slower, until the only sensible
thing to do is reboot (and sometimes that has to be forced
by Task Manager). Then all is (reasonably) well again.

The box is a Dell, about 4 years old.

Virus checker (Symantec [gag!] finds nothing.

I can't find a display adapter driver for the "nVidia
Quadro2" card on the nVidia site, but Windows Update found
one on the Microsoft site, circa 2004, that I loaded up and
it does seem to have vanquished some of the lethargy after a
fresh boot, but alas, the artifacts keep coming back (the
*one* thing I thought the drivers were most likely to fix!).

Anybody else been thru these weeds?
