Access 2003 Runtime and SP2

I need to distribute the Access 2003 runtime with my application (I've got my
installer to the point where it checks for Access 2003 and if it is not found
installs the runtime). However, because we digitally sign the app the target
machine needs to have SP2 installed (at least) otherwise Access crashes when
the mde is opened (I believe this was a bug that was fixed with SP2).

The issue is that I can't seem to locate a version of the Access Runtime msi
which contains SP2 (searching through my MSDN subscription hasn't yielded any
results).

I really would like to provide a seamless install for my users, so I don't
want to have to direct them to Microsoft updates before they try to launch my
application.

Does anyone know if:

A) An Access 2003 Runtime msi installer exists with SP2 included within the
msi?
B) If I can legally distribute Office SP2 as part of my application and
patch the target computer when necessary?
C) If another solution exists to this issue without resorting to having
users install SP2 on their own?

Not to my knowledge. I would very much like one as well.

I don't see why not. However that's rather large as I recall.
Somewhere in the vicinity of 100 Mb. PITA

Not to my knowledge.

What also irks me is that Microsoft Update won't find the A2003
runtime to install Access SP2. To me this is a rather large
security hole.

Microsoft Update does find A2002 runtime just fine and installs just
an A2002 SP.

Thanks for the information, you confirmed what I suspected. In case you're
interested, I found a post on another forum which describes how to slipstream
SP2 into the Access 2003 Runtime MSI. I stepped through the process this
morning and have tested it out on a couple of times and it appears to work.
I'll have to run a few more tests before we release our installer into the
wild, but so far so good.

SP3 hotfix

update my runtime installs. It seems to be machine dependant.

But you can download the A2002 runtime patch separately
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=834693. A lot more convenient than
the entire Office 2003 SP3 required just for the Access 2003 runtime.

Thanks Tony, but the problem in my experience is that SP does not always
run. I've just tried it on one system having an XP runtime with MSAccess.exe
version 10.0.4302.0 and got a dialog stating: "The expected version of the
product was not found on your system."

Installer, or anything else on the machines that won't install the SP?

I should mention that the installs are done with SageKey's scripts for Wise.
