Access or Excel?

Mifty

Hi there,

This may seem like a really silly question (particularly as this is my 2nd
attempt) but when would you use Access in preference to Excel?

I am just starting to get comforatable using Excel now and I have avoided
using Access (mainly because I am a bit clueless, as I was when starting out
with Excel). I am now at a stage where I don't know if I am just convincing
myself that Excel would be the better tool because using Access is so
daunting.

I would be really grateful if someone could let me know the pros and cons
and maybe give me a few examples of where one is better than the other.

Many thanks
Mifty

It's going to depend on the task. Access is daunting. If Excel works for
your prject, then use it. If you've run into aspects of the task that Excel
can't handle, then it may be time to use Access or learn whether or not
Excel *can* handle those aspects.

Hi JoAnn,

Thanks for your response. Excel has been fine for what I want so far.

Another question - How do I retract a message to this forum? - e.g. the half
completed message that I sent too soon.

Many thanks again

Oh, don't worry about the half-completed message, Mifty. It's not a problem.

I've seen some completed posts that *ought* to be removed from the server.
Heck - I think there may be some from my system. ;-)
