Activation

When I boot my new laptop, this Microsoft Activation icon appears. When I
click "Activate Now," after reading the series of icons, it goes to a
work-type screen, not an activation screen. Does this mean it has already
been activated?

Microsoft what activation? Windows? Office? Works? Age of Empires? (I know -
you don't activate AoE.)
