In Excel spreadsheets we are using the "Database" menu to create queries
against our corporate Oracle database. This allows us to use the
strengths/capabilities of both Oracle and Excel -- our users LOVE this
capability. (Also, ANY PC user can use these Excel spreadsheet queries -- no
special software (ex: ODBC) needs to be installed.)
In order to pull our Oracle data into VISIO, we first have to use an EXCEL
spreadsheet query into Oracle to populate the spreadsheet, then we point
VISIO at the spreadsheet. Why not do it all from within VISIO -- just copy
the code from Excel!
