Add objects to group without losing animations

I group a bunch of drawing objects (text boxes, arrows, etc) and then apply
several animations. The group animates as a group --- great. Then, I decide
I'd like to add another item to the group. Yipes! If I ungroup, select the
additional object, and regroup, the animations are all lost. It seems I have
to re-configure all of the animations. Some way of adding something to an
existing group, or having "regroup" recapture the animations, would be a big
help.
