Add-Ons -> Visio Extras -> Database Functions: Can these beautomated?

I want to be able to write out Visio shape data to an external
database. I just ran across the Visio Extras menu which does what I
want. Is there a way to automate the Database functionality of the
Add-On?

I can program in VBA, but I'm not a programmer. And my model is
local. So I want to KISS it first if possible.

If someone could point me to any tutorials on elementary data
exchange, I'd appreciate it.
