Dear MPP users,

There has been a question posted with exactly the above subject - I
was unable to continue that thread therefore I'm starting a new one. I
apologize for the inconvinience.

I use MPP 2007 and I have this exact problem -

I filter my schedule for "Resource Usage" or "Task Usage" view.

1. I want to add 'remaining work' manually for a task (this task is
not yet complete)
2. When I add 'Work' (we all know 'remaining work' is not available as
a timephased filed) in the timephased view, one of the following
happens -
a) The work hours gets added to the 'Actual Work' also
b) The 'remaining work' gets added at the end of the schedule, not
exactly on the day I want.
c) The exact 'remaining work' does not get added. I enter 4, and
3.85 gets added.

Can some one help? I'm really stuck. Automatic leveling is freezing
the MPP and manual leveling is not possible because of the above
mentioned issue.

Thanks,
Prashanth

Only if you add work during a preriod that was completed (and is followed by
more actual work). You cannot have remaining work during a period that is
followed by actual work. Adding work after the resume date adds remaining
work as you want it to.
b) The 'remaining work' gets added at the end of the schedule, not
exactly on the day I want.

When you add work timescaled (i.e. in the right part of the task useage
view) after the resume date it is added exactly during the period entered,
not immediately at the end of the task. When you add remaining work in the
appropriate column in the left part it is indeed concatenated at the end or
the task; how would Project know where you want to plan it?
c) The exact 'remaining work' does not get added. I enter 4, and
3.85 gets added.

Can't remember having seen this. Sorry.

Dear Jan -

1. I'm adding the 'remaining work' in the 'time phased' field.
2. The task is not complete yet.

I would assume this has to work correctly, don't know what the issue
is.
