Additional Text Fields for Project 2003

Eric

I have heard that thei is a recent add-on to add additional text fields into
Project 2003. However, so far I have been unable to find any information on
this add on. Does anyone have any idea or any suggestions as to go about
finding this?

Eric,
I've never heard of such an add-in but that doesn't mean it doesn't
exist. Keep in mind that Project is not a text processing or graphics
application. Project's main goal is to help plan and maintain schedules.
A generous number of spare fields are included and for the vast majority
of users 30 spare text fields is more than sufficient.

Just curious, why do you want more than 30 user defined text fields in
Project? Most likely there are better ways to do what you think you want
to do with all those text fields.

John,

First off, thank you for your response. Secondly, it isn't just extra text
fields, any extra fields other than the original 25 to 30 that project gives
you. The customer wants his fields one specific way and our company wants
them a seperate way for our own use. Without the clutter and confusion of
making 2 files, I was told that there is an add-on that has extra fields. I
was looking at the new Enterprise Add-on and was wondering if that does in
fact give you extra fields (I.E. Enterprise Text Field 1-30) in addition to
the basic fields. Any ideas?

I, also, have never heard of such an add-on. Your mention of Enterprise,
makes me believe you are referring to Project Server and its Enterprise
facilities, but not for the Standard version.

You could try posting on the server newsgroup. Please see FAQ Item: 24.

Eric,
As Mike mentioned, yes, there are additional fields (enterprise) if you
are using Project Server, but I'm still having a hard time imagining
that even with the differences between your company and the customer,
the existing spare fields are not enough. The only reason you would need
completely different fields is if every one of the spare fields had
different data between the two of you. And I don't mean a different
column heading because that can be individually customized with custom
views.
