Advanced Search Form

Jared

I have a basic search running off of my Win 2k Server SP4
web server. I publish to this server for my company's
intranet site. I have finally got IIS to start indexing
the correct folder, and now I want to know if there is a
way I can sort FrontPage's search, or if there is a way to
make an 'Advanced' search.
By Advanced search, what I mean is this:
We can sort by 'score' or 'relevance' or something along
those lines; sort by hits (optional); sort by
name/date/author(optional).

I also noticed the search only shows 10 items at a time-
is there a way to force it to show more, like 30 per
page?

Hi Jared,

You can write an ASP page to utilize Index Server and provide whatever
customization that you like. See the MSDN web site for the Index Server SDK.

You can create custom search pages using either ASP or
ASP.NET, but a full explanation is certainly beyond the
scope of a newsgroup message.

Basically, however, you use an ADODB provider named
msidxs. You open connections and retrieve records much as
you would for a conventional database, except that SQL
statement is quite a bit different.

For more info, browse http://search.microsoft.com and
search for msidxs.

Also, both Microsoft FrontPage Version 2002 Inside Out and
Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003 Inside Out describe a page
named aspsearch.asp that illustrates use of this provider.

The search page at
http://www.interlacken.com/common/search.aspx doesn't have
all the options you describe, but it illustrates that
something like you describe is possible.
