I'm not real certain what you're trying to do.

You've scanned in a document, saved it as a .jpg or .pdf, and now you can't
open it in Publisher or Word? If that's what you meant, of course you can't
open a picture in those programs. It's a *picture*, not a document.

WTF is 'scaning'?! The word is 'scanning' - if a word ends in a consonant,
as a general rule (though there are exceptions) you double the consonant
before adding the suffix (whether it's '-ing' or '-ed').

I thought we've already determined that the word means the past tense of
scane.

Turk,

I doubt you can open *any* Adobe file in any program except Adobe
Programs (ID, Acrobat, Illustrator, etc.) and maybe Quark. Naming a wolf
as a Sheep will not change the wolf into a sheep.

That aside, how did you manage to scan a file and save it as anything
Adobe, unless it was PhotoShop?

'-ing' isn't past tense though is it, ya wally?! ;o) It's present tense. And
you define 'scane' as what, exactly...?

Right after you tell me what a wally is. :)

*wally* chiefly Brit. slang /n/ a silly person, a fool. I wish you still
used MSN, you obviously need a lot more lessons! ;o)

Okay - you defined wally and now I need to define "scane". It
means............... um, I'm thinking............. um, well, it's a
verb................ and it means...................... refusing to use
spell check when posting questions to public newsgroups! Hah! How's that??

Mike, I have a HP photosmart 2410 which has a scaner. This is how I came into this problem. I use it to scan logos so I can make labels to print on to a transparency for printing of bottles. So when I go to my word or publiser programs
and try to open for copy and printing of words along with logo, this is the
place I need help with.
Thanks

Without knowing what you are doing, it is very difficult to know what you
are doing wrong.

If I were doing this task I would scan the logo using the Acquire option in
my graphics application. In your case, this might be where Adobe comes into
it. Then I would use the text facility in the graphics application to
overlay the required text or I would use other graphics features to
manipulate the image as required. When I had the image the way I wanted it,
I would save the image as a graphic file (TIF, preferably). Then I would
open the application I was using to create the document (WORD) or
publication (Publisher) and I would insert the graphic into the required
location.
