All Microsoft programs freeze up and end program will not work

I have windows XP. My e-mail program Outlook Express will not work. I also
have Microsoft Office 2003 and Front Page. When I open them to use them they
freeze up and will not work! I try to use End Program and it will not work
either!! In other words all Microsoft Programs are not working !! I have
uninstalled and re installed and they still do not work. Thanks Nume52

Assuming winxp is updated.
1)Try an online virus scan, eg www.symantec.com
2)Run the system file checker, see winxp help
3)Assertain the make of your hd, visit manu.web site and download and run
their hd checking utility
