Allow column formats to be modified in styles

The columns are somewhat difficult to use in word, especially if you want the
heading to span the entire page you have to select "from this point on" in
the dialog box. Is it possible to have Columns as one of the formatting
selections included with a style? Then you could click on Column 1 as your
style and the section is automatically formatted.
Thanks

If you format your document as a single column first, you can select the
text between the headings and then click the format > columns option, only
the selected text is put into columns. Repeat for each text block.

sorry guys,
I meant this to be a suggestion to microsoft rather than a discussion forum
post, probably used the wrong link.
Thanks for the feedback anyway

Your Suggestion for Microsoft is marked as such only for readers using
Microsoft's Communities portal. For the wider audience of readers using NNTP
newsreaders such as Outlook Express or viewing the newsgroups through other
portals such as WordForum or Google Groups, your post looks like any other.

The answers suggest ways to work around the difficulty you're experiencing
and reasons why it is unlikely that Microsoft will implement your
suggestion. Because section breaks are required when you change columns and
there is currently no way to incorporate section breaks in a paragraph style
(though a "Section break before" property has also been suggested), it would
be very difficult to do what you suggest.
