Alt text

M

MisterG

I have basicly two questions.
1, I know how to get Alt text on an image in a page but what I want to know
is this:
Is there a way to do it so everytime that image is used in a web the same
alt text will appear without having to enter it each time.
2, Is there a way to apply Alt text in a theme, i.e. so all bullets will
have the alt.text "bullet"
Thanks buches!!

Re: Alt textBullsh!t.

ASP or any scripting language can be used to solve Item 1
very easily. Item 2 could also be resolved using scripting if
the 'theme' was not being generated by FrontPage.

Tom Pepper Willet is a piece of sh!t masquerading as a human being.

Tom Pepper Willet and other pieces of sh!t masquerading as human
beings supported deceiving merchants about an e-commerce security
flaw I discovered in LaGarde's StoreFront 5 (SF5) while testing an
SF5 modification I was developing for a merchant customer.

Due to flaws in LaGarde's SF5 code it was possible to access a
merchant's database and read records when accessing the merchant's
site with a browser configured to disable JavaScript.

I tried discussing the security flaw with LaGarde who said nothing
and did nothing to respond responsibly. In fact Bob LaGarde is
such a corrupt rat that to this day -- 2+ years later -- he still has not
notified any SF5 customers that the software had a security flaw.

The reason that this is important to consider is due to the fact that
SF5 and other open-source e-commerce applications require a lot
of custom programming. Thus, merchants rarely upgrade once they
have built out their stores to a level that the merchant decides is
sufficient for their operations.

So I blew the whistle and made a patch freely available to merchants.

It was not until months later that the corrupt Bob LaGarde finally
issued corrected code and only then because the rat bundled the
corrected code in the next upgrade of the SF5 software.

There are other issues I could discuss with regard to LaGarde's
StoreFront. Suffice it to say: stay away. Bob LaGarde is a dishonest
and untrustworthy vendor that is very good at marketing but has
few if any ethics.

So choosing to side with LaGarde -- a corrupt vendor --
Tom 'piece of sh!t masquerading as a human being' Willet joined with
others of his ilk in an attempt to intimidate me for blowing the whistle.
Now I am named a troll by a stalker that I know personally is a piece
of sh!t masquerading as a human being.

That's okay with me. I am proud of the fact that I said and did the
right thing. There are others who will support what I have just stated.
If anybody wants to take it that far I am prepared to ask those who
know I am telling the truth and am a man of integrity to respond but
to what end?

There are two sides to most stories.

Re: Alt textI'll go as far as briefly describing the process using ASP/VBS
grammar as I rarely write code for anybody in newsgroups anymore
for several very sound reasons. For Item 1...

The FileSystem Object [1] is used to read the directory where images
are stored. The file names of the images are written into a Dictionary
Object [2]. The Dictionary Object is used to dynamically generate
branching logic, e.g. a Select Case [3].

When the Select Case is parsed it dynamically writes the HTML for
each image element including the desired alt text. If alt text should
ever need to be modified it only has to be rewritten in one location:
the Select Case statement.

Within that section of the page where the HTML that declares the
use of the image is to be dynamically generated an ASP Response.Write
code block is used. For example...

<td><%= sImage_01 %></td>

Noting refinements would be neccessary that is it in a nutshell.
A similar process would be used for Item 2.

Let's add this up here....
Nobody will listen to you as an architect....
Nobody will listen to you as a "programmer"..
You can't answer a post without using vulgarity.
You attack some one who:
a. Has nothing to do with StoreFront.
b. Who has forgotten more than you will "ever learn" about Windows / FrontPage / servers / etc etc.

Let me pass on what is probably the most valuable piece of advice my dear departed father ever gave
me.

If you're not happy with the way life is going, walk in the bathroom and look in the mirror and you
will find the person totally responsible.

But then again, what would I know. I'm just another <quote> button pushing FrontPage Monkey
</quote>.
