Another Calculation problem

I have the following Summary Task and tasks.

12 Development 24.5 days 100% Tue 2/6/07 Tue 3/13/07
13 Create 3 days 100% Tue 2/6/07 Fri 2/9/07

15 Create 2 days 100% Mon 2/12/07 Wed 2/14/07 14
16 Create 1 day 100% Wed 2/14/07 Thu 2/15/07 15
17 Create 2 days 100% Thu 2/15/07 Mon 2/19/07 16
18 Make 4 days 100% Mon 2/19/07 Fri 2/23/07 17
19 Create 1 day 100% Fri 2/23/07 Mon 2/26/07 18
20 Create 3 days 100% Mon 2/26/07 Thu 3/1/07 19
21 Create 0.5 days 100% Thu 3/1/07 Thu 3/1/07 20

22
24 Call 1 day 100% Fri 3/2/07 Mon 3/5/07
23
25 Create 0.5 days 0% Mon 3/5/07 Tue 3/6/07 24
26 Make 1 day 50% Tue 3/6/07 Wed 3/7/07 25
27 Allow 2 days 0% Wed 3/7/07 Fri 3/9/07
26
28 Clone 1 day 0% Fri 3/9/07 Mon 3/12/07
27
29 Add 1 day 0% Mon 3/12/07 Tue 3/13/07 28

How can I be 100% done in the Summary Task "Development"???

I did find that task 13-23 are showing as Complete. Task 24 does not show
Complete (no Check Mark in Left column).

What seems to be happening is that the tasks 24-26 were added later after I
had already started work on the project (added %Work Completed values). Not
sure if this is causing it or not, but it seems that is the case. Why would
the summary show as 100% when all the tasks that would show as completed
were completed. Obviously it isn't 100% complete.

Thanks,

Tom

Hi,

This would be much clearer had you also shown the Column Outline Number,
such that we could see which is parent task of which.
I suspect the later tasks do not belong to task 12

Actually, I think what is happening is that I installed the SP2 update and
it is causing the confusion.

In the tasks that were created before the update, if I change the % Work
Completed to 100% - it marks the task as complete and the summaries look at
it. And the Percent Complete of the Task Information screen reflect it. If
the task was created after the update, The %Work Completed really doesn't
seem to mean anything. If I set it to 100% - The task is not marked
complete and the Task Information screen shows Percent Complete. I need to
change the %Complete not the %Work Complete column to update the summaries,
Task Information screen and Mark the Task as Complete.

If you look at the Summary task it show as 100% (even though it obviously is
not complete). It only is looking at the first 12 tasks (those created
before the update). If you look at the %Complete (which is not showing
here) you will see 75% - which is correct.

I apparently cannot use %Work Complete column now to update my task but need
to use the %Complete to get the correct Percentages in my Summary. This
doesn't solve the Fixed date problem, however.

Here is the display with the column you asked about (Outline Number)

Hi Tom,

I think your guess is right. Mine wasn't indeed.

It wasn't a bad guess if you don't have all the information. It took me
hours late last night to figure out what was happening (and I am still
guessing here) by creating and recreating my Projects and working with the
old Projects to figure it out.

Thanks,

Tom
