applying a slide template when it has two different designs

I would like to know how to apply a powerpoint slide template when it has two
different designs.

Version 2003. When I view the slide master it shows the slide to have two
different designs but I can't figure out how to apply the one I want.

If you see two thumbnails in the outline pane and they are connected with a gray
line then the top one is your Slide Master and the second on is the Title
Master. The Slide Master will be applied to all slides except a slide that has
the "Title Slide" slide layout applied to it. Any slide that has the Title
Slide layout applied will adopt the Title Master design.

Go to Format > Slide Layout and the task pane will show the available layouts.
Hover over them with your cursor and you will see each of their names.
