Applying Templates problem

docusysadm

Hi! I created a new template for a set of our documents because the original
template styles they were using were based on the "normal" style which
resulted in some of the headings "drifting" as they had some bad habit of
changing styles (some confilict with the Normal.dot I think). not sure why
but the new template doesn't appear to do this because i based the styles on
"text" instead. Anyway, when I go to apply the new template to an exising
document it places an autonumbering outlne 1 before the styles that I
created. Does anybody have any ideas why this would be happening? Thanks for
the help!!

G'day "docusysadm" <[email protected]>,

Rename normal. Create a new template based on normal. Very carefully
set your styles, lists page layouts and so on. I highly suggest macros
to do this. Save this and call it Master.dot. Never ever use it and
store it somewher safe away from Word. Whenever you want a new
template, copy this file into your templates dir and rename it. Then
tweak it up. By doing this you will always have nice clean templates
to play with.

As for the why it happened, its not worth going into. Suffice it to
say the B&N dialog is a shocker. Use VBA.
