Arrow Key Cell Completion

I have always used the arrow keys to move to the next cell after
typing in data, but it will no longer complete the cell function. When
I press the up or down key, the cell remains open and the entire
spreadsheet moves up or down a row. I now have to hit enter or return,
then arrow to the next cell.

Preferences are set for moving down on using the Return key, but this
is a grade book. When data is entered into a cell, I may need to go
down, right or left at any moment.

Any help would be appreciated. Using Office 98 on a Power PC.

Thanks!

That's an undocumented "feature" in Excel 98 and 2001 : hit the "F14" key
and things should be fine again...
