When I installed Office 2003, it created a user account on my system called
asp.net Machine A.....

What is it for and can I delete it?

It's actually part of .NET Framework. I think that you probably have
..NET Framework 1.0. If you install 1.1, which MS considers a security
upgrade, I think it will go away. You can get 1.1 via "Windows Update",
like I said, it's considered a high-priority security upgrade. I would
not remove it manually.

Thanks for the input. I just checked and I do have version 1.1 installed.
The only problems being caused is that I like to turn on my computer and just
let it boot up. Since I now have this additional account set up, the boot up
sequence stops at the welcome screen and I have to select the only account
that shows up (the asp.net account does not show up as an option)

Here is some information:

How to automatically log on Windows XP has been posted a number of times in
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general. There are also a number of Google
returns for: Windows XP automatic logon.

Don,

Thanks for info. I will try your suggestions to see how they work. This is
actually my first thread in the area and I don't know much about the
protocol. Don't mean to flood the board with questions that have been
answered. I will post back on how that turned out.

Not a problem. I referred to you to Google and the Windows XP newsgroup as I
made the change so long ago that I do not recall the details. Looking at
your post more closely, I note that you are using web interface to access
these newsgroups. A news reader such {even Outlook Express} is better. Here
is a list of Microsoft Public Newsgroups that you may fine of use:
