attachment file associations

I am trying to setup Outlook for Mac to open attachments
such as .jpg or .pdf without having to save them to my
hard disk first. when i get a jpeg or pdf emailed to me
and i say open it i get an error saying unable to launch
program associated with opening this file, but if it is a
word or excel document i can open them just fine. if i
choose save and put it on my desktop it opens just fine
so i am assuming the proper program is just not
associated in outlook somewhere. does anyone know how to
fix this?
thanks much!!!!!

Try digging around the File Exchange Control Panel. You may be able to
create a new file association or change an existing association.

Hope this helps! bill

You can access it by going to Apple menu --> Control Panels --> File
Exchange. It's not terribly pretty or intuitive, but from browsing through
it you should be able to locate the file extensions and discover the
application that is currently set to open that type of file.

Hope this helps! bill

You can also, just drag the attachment over the Dock icon
of the application you want to open it.
