They are not deleted as they are still with your originally received
message.
Also, as it is a reply, it is assumed that the sender already has that file.
They aren't deleted, they just aren't included in replies because you have
one copy. If you edit the attachment you need to attach it. You can also
forward it and address the message to the sender if you need to send it
back.
